The acquisition of the Cenveo content and elearning operations by CJK Group, owner of Sheridan Journal Services and PubFactory, united two premier content service providers supporting the needs of the journal, educational publishing, and digital learning markets. The subsequent acquisition of Kaufman Wills Fusting & Company bolstered the company's credentials in journal editorial services while adding business consulting solutions to its portfolio. The latest acquisition of Allen Press strengthens KGL’s journal and peer review solutions and completes its one-stop content proposition with the addition of marketing services, advertising sales, and association management. The combined organization creates a globally competitive business poised to maximize technology and investments that enhance the overall customer experience and solve critical business challenges.

The CJK Group owns a large portfolio of print and content services, fulfillment, and technologies facilities serving customers globally. Headquartered in Brainerd, MN, the CJK Group businesses include Sheridan Group locations in Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Sheridan Journal Services (SJS), had been serving the STM publishing market since 1908. Based in Waterbury, VT and Boston, MA, the company employed 140 staff and hundreds of freelancers in the US. SJS produced almost 400,000 pages annually while the PubFactory platform hosts over 1,300 journals and 300,000 books.
Cenveo Publisher Services and Cenveo Learning were industry leaders in providing high quality content services to publishers of books, journals, magazines, and to other content centric organizations worldwide. Previously a division of Cenveo Worldwide Limited, the company’s roots serving academic publishers stretch back over 130 years. Cenveo Publisher Services maintained 1,300 employees across nine facilities in the US, UK, and India in addition to 2,500 freelance SMEs. The facilities remain ISO certified for quality management (ISO 9001:2015) and data security (ISO 27001:2013), as well as for social accountability (SA8000:2014).
Based in Baltimore, MD, and employing 99 people, KWF Consulting and sister company KWF Editorial were leading providers of management consulting support and professional editorial services to the scholarly publishing community. As part of KGL, KWF Consulting continues to advise clients on strategic planning, new product development, market research, and RFP negotiations. KWF Editorial provides professional staffing solutions for journal editorial office management, peer review services, and editor support.
Based in Lawrence, KS since 1935, and employing about 150 people, Allen Press was a family-owned company offering a wide variety of editorial, production, marketing, print, and digital services tailored to the needs of independent society and association publishers. The company’s extensive suite of publishing services and technology solutions has been incorporated into KGL, while the print facility has joined the Sheridan group and has been rebranded as Sheridan Kansas. Known for a commitment to excellence and attention to detail, the publishing professionals at Allen Press are a strong complement to the KGL and Sheridan families.
