Cara co-founded Kaufman Wills Fusting & Company in 2000 and served as the Managing Director until Company’s acquisition by KGL in 2021. Cara continues to lead the team offering consulting, peer review, association management, and other society services. She works alongside extraordinary staff to ensure that the organization anticipates and remains responsive to changes in the market and continually meets and exceeds the expectations of our esteemed clients. Earlier in her career, Cara held management, editorial, and marketing positions with commercial and association publishers. Cara received a BA in English with high honors from Carleton College and an MBA in marketing and market research from DePaul University.

Kevin Lomangino | Director, KGL Consulting

Kevin Lomangino leads KGL’s Consulting team and ensures the highest level of service to clients across our portfolio of offerings including contract negotiation and RFPs, strategic planning and implementation, new product development, market research, editor-in-chief recruitment, and others. He excels at providing data-driven analyses to guide clients in making decisions about their publishing programs. Kevin brings a wide breadth of experience in publishing and marketing to the KGL team. He was previously a journal publishing executive with a large commercial publisher, where he focused on new product development and served as publisher for a portfolio of STM journals. He has also worked in health care as an editor, journalist, and communications consultant. He received his BA in English literature from Loyola University in Maryland.    


Jen leads client financial analysis for complex projects such as multi-journal publishing proposals, new journal development, and contract renewal strategies, in addition to a mix of editorial and other financial projects for KGL clients. Core services provided by Jen include financial spreadsheet development and analysis, constructing P&Ls to illustrate and model multiple scenarios; competitor analyses; and publishing audits. Jen has worked in publishing for more than 20 years after receiving a BA in English and Liberal Arts from Virginia Tech.

Lisa Marshall | Senior Consultant

Lisa manages our highly successful academic editor-in-chief recruiting solution. She also undertakes publishing audits, requests for proposals, new product development, editorial analyses/benchmarking, governance best practices, and strategic planning for clients. Also an expert writer and managing editor, Lisa brings to her consulting projects 30 years of experience developing information resources for healthcare professionals across multiple formats and subspecialties. Lisa received a BA in English Literature from Bryn Mawr College.


Market Research and Development Associates

Annette Hager | Senior Consulting Associate

Annette designs, develops, and conducts a wide variety of marketing and research initiatives to create and increase product knowledge and awareness. She also helps convert market prospects into leads and ultimately sales for KGL clients. Annette’s areas of expertise include lead generation and cultivation, market seeding, online product demonstration webinars, in-depth interviews, data mining and analysis, and quantitative and qualitative market research. Prior to joining KGL, Annette worked for many years as a registered nurse and in healthcare documentation. She received her BSN degree from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.

Karen Anderson | Market Research and Development Associate

Karen Anderson, KGL Consulting

Karen relies on her marketing and market research skills in her current role helping to develop and convert leads through tele-research and telesales. Other areas of expertise include conducting in-depth interviews and data mining to generate new insights for client product development and marketing teams. Karen combines uncommon attention to detail with meticulous follow-up to achieve outcomes that routinely exceed client expectations. She was previously in sales and marketing with a top commercial publisher. Karen received her MS in Applied Behavioral Science from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Debbie Heise | Market Research and Development Associate

Debbie develops and implements market development and research solutions that ultimately grow client revenues and market awareness. Debbie’s area of expertise includes lead generation, market seeding, tele-research and telesales, online product demonstrations, and data mining. Deb has more than 20 years of experience, previously with Wolters Kluwer, Cenveo, and John Wiley & Sons.   Debbie received a BA in Marketing from Loyola College in Baltimore. 

Carolyn Lewis | Market Research and Development Associate

Carolyn designs, develops, and offers webinars and online presentations for clients to create and increase awareness of their products.  Carolyn’s areas of expertise include in depth interviewing, focus groups and roundtables.  Prior to joining KGL, she worked in sales for many years in health science publishing.  She received her BA from Meredith College in North Carolina and advanced Marketing Certification from SMU in Dallas.

Business Operations

Lisa Colón | Business Operations Manager

Lisa leads the business management team as Business Operations Manager for KGL Consulting and KGL Editorial. In this position, she is responsible for talent acquisition, employee on boarding and development, employee payroll, client invoicing, and benefits management. Lisa also manages the contracts and communications with the companies’ service providers: technology, legal, insurance, accounting, payroll, banking, and project management. Lisa joined KGL in 2015 previously working in business administration roles for 15 years. Lisa received a BS in Business Management/Human Resource Management from Towson University.

Isabella Lawrence | Business Operations Associate Senior Data Management Associate

Isabella supports both KGL Consulting Services and KGL Editorial Services associates. With seven years of administrative experience, Isabella brings critical business and organizational skills to the companies. She assists with client invoicing and employee data management in addition to backing up the Business Operations Manager. Isabella holds a BS in Business Management from St. John’s University in New York.
