Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives are becoming increasingly important to scholarly societies to promote equitable actions that advance diversity and accessibility. In addition to fostering equity in the workplace and diversity among their members, many societies are working actively to increase the diversity of contributors to their journal programs. This session will review disparities research in scholarly publishing, examine the relationship between editorial policy, publication bias, and normality bias, and detail a variety of strategies societies can employ diversify the contributors to their journals, make their content more equitable, and engage a wider audience.
